When I first started working in interior design, one of the first things that caught my attention were the names of the marbles and stones; Bianca Carrara, Calacatta Viola, Nero Marquina, Kunis marble and Travertine. They all sounded so elegant and unique.
Then, slowly as I learned more, I started to love how beautiful and different each one looked, each with its unique personality. The natural veins, the patterns, the colours, no two slabs are ever the same.
So, in this post, I want to share the types of marble and stone that have really stood out to me, and what’s trending right now in furniture and interiors.

Bianca Carrara is probably the most famous marble ever. It comes from Italy and has a soft white to grey background with delicate grey veins running through it.
It’s simple, clean, and goes with almost any design style; minimal, modern, or Scandinavian.
If you want something timeless that you’ll never get bored of, Carrara is a safe and beautiful choice. Usually, this type of marble is commonly used on kitchen counter tops and bathroom surfaces, less on furniture.
Calacatta Viola is the marble you choose to add depth and personality. It`s a hard one to miss. it has a creamy white base with bold burgundy or violet veins. This marble makes a real statement and instantly draws attention.
If you love a bold yet elegant look, Nero Marquina is the one to know. This deep black marble, is defined by its striking white veins that create a sharp contrast and a sense of drama. The marble is originally the marble is sourced from Spain.
It’s the kind of stone that instantly feels high-end, perfect for modern or luxury interiors. Even a small touch, like a side table, vanity top, or accent detail, can make a room look more polished and sophisticated.
Nero Marquina often suits spaces with a strong, confident mood interiors that express power, depth, and timeless style. It’s ideal if you want something that stands out quietly, without relying on colour to make an impact.

If you like the idea of stone but want something less glossy and more organic, Travertine is a great pick. And honestly, it`s one of the most popular trend lately. It has warm beige and sand tones, and its natural pores give it a soft, earthy look. The organic texture makes you feel grounded with nature.
It’s perfect if you want your space to feel calm, natural, and inviting. Travertine looks amazing in minimalist or Mediterranean-style homes, especially paired with wood and linen textures.

When it comes down to it, honestly, marble is one of those materials that just keeps getting better with time.
